I think you'd be hard pressed to taste the difference in FG.

When you're viewing a recipe you can click the "Copy To Brewlog" button at the top. That will make a copy of the current recipe in a special folder ("Brewlog" by default, but configurable in the options). That way you can keep your logs separate from the main recipe.
