Feb 24, 2018 at 16:57 comment added Evil Zymurgist @bendl you want a lot, usually about 1/2 gallon per 5 gallons wort. Basically all the trub from a 5 gallon batch of a brew fermented normally. It sounds like a lot, but isn't that hard to do. Especially if you have a friend that just finished up a batch or do a multi step starter. Buying yeast in this quantity isn't practical.
