I'm a German fellow living in Ireland. I home brewing activities started with kombucha and water kefir for which I bought some brewing containers and equipment from an Irish online shop. After already having most of the stuff required I started to also brew wine. I didn't tried to brew beer yet.

What type of beers stand up to temperature variation during fermentation? @chris: While I agree with your comment in principle you should really use °C or (*C) instead of 'degrees'. It's simply not accurate. After all, people don't know if you are an American living in Alaska were it might be 16*F-21*F throughout the day. :-) |

What are the easiest and hardest commercial beer bottles to re-use for homebrew? I currently live in Ireland and use mostly Grolsch bottles because they are the only swing-top bottles I could find here (besides clear 750ml French lemonade bottles unsuitable for beer). One downside, beside the green color, is that they only contain 450ml instead of the usual 500ml. In my home country Germany some breweries still use the classic brown 500ml swing-top bottles, which are ideal for home brewed beer. |

What are the best ways to regulate temperature while fermenting? Just saw the question and wanted to add the same answer. I use this method for homebrewing kombucha which works very well (Images). It should work the same way for beer and wine. There is is even easier because you don't need the big opening for air access like kombucha needs. |
