Are plastic fizzy-drink bottles an acceptable substitute for glass bottles? @Jeff That's a good point, but I think the issue comes in more at the cleaning stage, than the sanitizing stage. If there is a scratch, and in this scratch there is mold, old yeast, etc, you may not be able to get your brush bristles in there to knock it out. If you can't knock it out, then the sanitizer won't be able to make contact everywhere in a reasonable amount of time. The wort/beer will be sitting in there for a longer time, though, so it may become contaminated. |

Ever used a hopback? @Scott Yeah, gravity is all it takes. I set up the kettle on a table, with the hopback and chiller on a chair, and the fermenter on the floor. |
