AG brewer since 2007. Current rig is a clone plus extras of http://theelectricbrewery.com. I like most styles of beer.
Projects in progress are a custom kegbot that tracks beer consumption without a flowmeter, a brewpi fermentation controller and a digital specific gravity meter.

Why an erlynmeyer flask? @DougEdey - I agree. While in a lab there are many vessels that are heat proof, I don't think there are so many for the homebrewer that can be obtained easily. |

Why an erlynmeyer flask? a downvote and no comment doesn't help anyone. |

Why an erlynmeyer flask? I agree, but to get a large surface area, you'll need a much larger flask than the size of the starter. E.g. for a 2l starter, a 2l flask gives a small surface area, although this probably is a not a concern when stirring. |

Why an erlynmeyer flask? I'm sure there are many positives, but one negative is that the conical shape means a smaller surface area for gas exchange, making it less than ideal here. |

How to make more beer than I can boil? Since you're already doing AG, which produces the best worts, you may want to avoid LME and stick to DME in the boil, and use the DME as a late <15min addition. LME tends to bring syrupy, oxidized flavors with it. |

Aggressive foam from Keg Thanks for that clarification - I didn't quite get the meaning, but I hope the poster replies to confirm if it's a sanke or a corny, maybe with a picture of the keg, if he's unsure. |

Aggressive foam from Keg how long is the tubing from the keg to the faucet? Also, be sure to bleed the co2 from the keg when reducing pressure on the regulator. |

Can Infected beer cause death or major illness? This is more of a case of getting sick from bad wort rather than bad beer. If a brewer just left the wort sitting in open air for a few days they would also likely get sick for the same reasons. For beer to be safe, the wort it's made from has to be handled correctly - the time the unpasteurized wort is exposed to the air before boiling should be a few hours at most. |
