How do you sanitize the outside of your racking cane? Great idea, but I wouldn't say it sanitizes on contact StarSan requires a 30 second contact time (foam or liquid) to be sanitized. |

Can Star San kill yeast in the secondary carboy? StarSan works by opening and rupturing cell membranes and walls. StarSan only works in a solution that is under 3.5 pH. Draining the liquid and adding your beer to your fermentor will raise the pH above this. There is no reason to rinse StarSan, you can rack directly on top of the foam the forms. |
