How do I know if my Kombucha Scoby is growing something funky? From what I hear in brewing, the main thing with infections is that they taste bad or smell bad, not that they are dangerous. So I generally hear that if it tastes bad, don't drink it, otherwise it's fine. Not sure how true this is, but for what it's worth that's what I've always done. |

Can Olive Oil REPLACE oxygenating wort The test you link to is interesting as a starting point, but hardly conclusive. It was a very small sample size (n=12) and not super well controlled or blinded (only one batch used, colored cups were used without randomizing contents, etc.). I'd love to see an experiment like this carried out on a larger scale though! |

Choosing a yeast for ginger beer how did you keep it from coming out really dry with champagne yeast? or was it just a dry ginger beer? |

Should I upgrade my thermometer or just re-calibrate it? REALLY slowly. I tried doing this once on a thermometer that had separated and exploded the thermometer. moral of the story, store your thermometer vertical and upright. |
