comment Rubber Keg Boot Glue Recommendation
Took everything apart (it was easier than I thought it would be), cleaned and sanded the indside of the boot and outside of the keg with 60 grit sand paper, and used an entire syringe of gorilla glue two-part epoxy. I flipped the keg upside down and sat on it to make sure the boot was seated tight and gave it a couple of hours to cure, and it seems to have worked great! Thanks for the help!

Going to go with the liquid nails...I agree with you that I should clean it well before, but I'm lazy so I'm going to just try squirting it in from every angle and putting something heavy on top for a day or two. If that doesn't work I'll take it apart and do it right.

Even if a bug crawls in and dies you are probably fine :)

comment How do you label your bottles?
I do the same but use perforated business card sheets. Also, if you spray them with clear urethane after you print them, the ink won't run when they get wet in the cooler.

Thanks Graham - I'm not really sure what I'm going for, but I know that burnt rubber isn't it!

In all honesty, I was inspired to make it after reading "Gravity's Rainbow" - there is a character in the book who is famous for making banana breakfast feasts, and one of the items described in the book is banana mead. I don't really have any preconception about how it should taste...just seemed like something that would be fun to try. The plan right now is to put a few pounds of ripe bananas in the primary. If you've got a better idea I am definitely open to suggestions!

comment Using Grolsch “Premium Lager” bottles for bottling
agreed - I've been using mine successfully for 15+ years. I built simple wooden crates to keep them in the dark, and they don't see the light until they go into the fridge or cooler. I also have never removed the gaskets to sanitize them, I just wash them by hand with soap and water and run them through the dishwasher on the sanitizing cycle w/out soap
