Beginning Homebrewer
One extract brew completed (not so great). One all-grain Blonde Ale completed (overshot on the gravity, thought it tasted like sanitizer, but I gave it 3 months and it tasted excellent!).
One all-grain Cherry Stout (switched to all-glass fermentation)

Does aging the beer make a huge difference? The gravity on my Blonde Ale was really high accidentally. It started around 1.08 or something crazy like that. The final ABV was 8.14%. So that definitely could have been a big factor. |

Low Cost Conical Fermenter I have to say I learned something from this answer... But it wasn't exactly helpful. If someone was wanting to switch to a 6.5 gallon conical for a reasonable price, what would you recommend? Paying $200 for something that will only last me 2-3 years, or possibly less considering your fittings findings, what would you ultimately suggest? Or would you suggest just paying more for a long term solution? |

Is there a more durable alternative to a plastic auto-siphon? I may start doing it the old fashioned way again, and pay more attention to it and do it the right way. We'll see how long I can stand it :) |

Is there a more durable alternative to a plastic auto-siphon? I understand all of that, I've done it with and without the auto siphon. But wouldn't that method require an initial sanitizer "suck start". I would like to try to avoid that, plus the auto siphon is really handy if something goes wrong and you need to start the siphoning over again quickly, easily, and sanitary. I'm pretty sure I'm done doing it the hard way. |

How do I batch sparge? I went from all extract to all-grain and won't ever look back. But I suppose it's not all that different. |

Determining the potential gravity of non-grain additions I agree with brewchez. I think the fruit and adjunct potential gravity questions are two totally different questions. |
