Making a Yeast Starter It's all about cell count, so assuming good yeast viability in your vial/smackpack, it should scale linearly (for homebrew purposes, at least). You would never need to make a starter for a 1 gallon batch as liquid yeast is generally good enough for 2-3 gallons and less directly out of the package. |
