What are the benefits of fermenting under pressure? People smarter than I helped me calculate a starting point in this thread (homebrewtalk.com/f128/oxygenation-under-pressure-306783), and then I did a few experiments on my own with a dissolved oxygen meter. The headspace you have is the key factor, which might very well be different in a big conical. |

What are the price/features tradeoffs to consider when buying a new brew kettle? @FrustratedWithFormsDesigner: Maybe, but I'd still argue it's too local of a question to be appropriate for this context. |

What are the benefits of fermenting under pressure? Eventually, probably. I bottle my big beers and other things I want to age significantly. For daily drinkers, though, I rarely keep a beer on tap longer than a couple of months. |

No chill cubes storage Hmm...I'm not sure I understand this. The volume of the wort and air shrink, which will create negative pressure on the cube. But, whatever's in there stays in there, assuming the seal is good (which it needs to be). |

What are the price/features tradeoffs to consider when buying a new brew kettle? I don't know that this question is really appropriate for the stack exchange format. If you're looking for evaluations of the best deals in brew kettles, a more traditional forum would probably be your best bet. Or, if you're interested in what features people find useful in a brew kettle, that will likely get good responses too. Ultimately, translating that utility to dollars is something only you can evaluate. |

No chill cubes storage If you plan to store the wort for a long time, you'll want to avoid exposure to oxygen. |

Missed my target gravity and volume by a mile I doubt the rye made a difference. At this point, honestly, it's hard to know where your efficiency losses went. The fact that you only got two gallons from your first runnings is also strange, but wouldn't necessarily result from a poor crush. It's likely that you had conversion problems, but you'll probably never know exactly why in retrospect. |

Missed my target gravity and volume by a mile Hmm...anecdotally, I know Midwest was having problems with their crush a few weeks back. |
