Just a regular guy who loves everything about beer. From growing raw ingredients, to packaging and serving it to everyone.

I started brewing in 2012 and my first batch was an extract kit that got infected. The following week I went in and spent the money on an all grain setup. In just my first year, I brewed less than 1000 gallons of beer, and at least 75 batches, and gave most of it away to friends and family. I am now planning and working on opening a brewery in Toledo, OH. It should open in early 2014.

comment Adding Vanilla Extract?
I, too, LOVE vanilla. I'm making a brown ale with a lot of chocolate grain in it. I did take a small taste just before pitching the yeast, and the vanilla was definitely there. It was pretty tasty. I heard from a few sources that vanilla flavor fades quickly with time, and due to poor planning on my part (vacation) this will be going into secondary for about 3 weeks before I can get home to bottle it. I'm going to cold crash it for a few days and store it in the bottles for another 20 days before opening. Also, I'm filtering the beans from the vodka and adding just the liquid to the beer.

comment Best beer to brew that will last a long time
Be careful, though. If you store it at too cold of a temp it may cloud.
