What is a good definition of beer? I thought the restriction was to only barley, [from wikipedia] "...The restriction of grains to barley..." I am very likely misunderstanding the law. Do you have any clarification? |

What makes an addition good for a basic wheat beer? +1 for "normal" beers first. IMHO you need the basics first before going nuts. But that's just one man's opinion |

Expect the Unexpected: How can I prepare for bottle-bombs? +1, I've had only one or two bottles blow in over 20 batches and they were in the first batch. |

Expect the Unexpected: How can I prepare for bottle-bombs? +1 re overfilling, one of the guys in my brewclub "overfills" all of his bottles, he likes the way it carbonates better, and he's been brewing for over a decade. |

wild yeast taking over? I was under the impression that all beer was safe to drink, just not always enjoyable. |

first time racking and bottling… agreed, I brew with my brother so we're always double checking. "Did you remember the priming sugar?" and without fail, every brew session there's an "oops, almost forgot that" |

Is an immersion chiller really necessary? I'm impressed, my 5 gallon chilling in a pot took well over 2 hours (one night over 3). So for me it was essential. |
