Thanks, I hadn't considered using a cane, although my line is very thick (~1" OD, 1/2" ID) silicon and it didn't seem to collapse. Metal scrubbers seems like a good idea as well, I'll give it a go next weekend!

Thanks! I wasn't sure if there were additional flavor profiles that Juniper could impart during the boil (as hops do). Perhaps I'll just have to experiment!

Interesting... I remember reading that about hops, actually. Something to do with the saturation of the alpha acids in smaller batches? That might explain why my beer is a tad more bitter than I was expecting!
