comment What micron level is good for carbon filtering your water?
Right. So do these whole house filters have the ion exchange that the Brita does?

Yeah, I already looked everywhere. Its stupid that a bunch of the filter manufacturers do not say to what level they filter. So as far as the speed on the water goes, should I just slow that down?

Also, do you have any idea what Brita's micron rating is? I could not find it anywhere, but I was trying to make this be comparable.

Okay, so I should try and run the water at a slower speed then I guess to help this out? I currently am hooking this thing up to my sink spout, and it is running super fast out of there if I put it on full power.

comment Should I use force carbonation, and how do I go about doing it?
@Mołot The original question I dont think was asking what I meant for it. If you think there is a better way to phrase it, than by all means change it how you want. I didnt change the question, just the title.

After bottling this way, how long should I let the bottles sit before drinking? Should I put them in the refrigerator right after filling?

Great answer, thanks John! Is there a No. 2 stopper you recommend? I am not sure if I know what that is. Also, how long do I wait for carbonation of the keg? Also, what is fob?

comment Best size carboy for brewing beer?
I tasted it a few times before bottling. It will be conditioning until next Saturday though. It tasted pretty good.

I think I read before that you want a very little amount of head space on secondary, is that right?

So what is a good amount of space to leave at the top? Is 5 gallons in a 7gal carboy to much?

comment If a beer recipe calls for secondary fermentation, should I do it even though there are drawbacks?
@DennyConn Cool thanks for the reply. How long do you put it in there for, and does it effect the flavor, or just clarity? Would an ice bath work for this?

I was reading a bit about cold crashing. Seems like I need to have a controlled temp freezer to do that right? Are there any cheap options to cold crash? Also, which of the clarifying agents can be used post fermentation?

comment How do I save yeast to be reused?
What about dead yeast on the bottom of the carboy? Also, that little bit of beer you leave in the container would change the flavor of the next beer you use it in right? How do you get the yeast and only the yeast out to save?

Cool, so do you think oxiclean for cleaning, and starsan for sterilization? If so, what are the times and amounts per a gallon with oxiclean? Im sure starsan has the directions.

So are you recommending oxiclean for cleaning and starsan for sterilization? Also what is the cost of starsan, and can I get it at a local store?

comment My first brew tastes a bit like champage. Did I do something wrong?
How can you be sure that each bottle gets the right amount of yeast and sugar if you add it to the bucket first? Sorry, I know thats probably a noob question.

I fermented for 2 weeks, and carbonated for 2 weeks btw. I did add sugar to each bottle. Also, what do you meen by "full malt beer" comparatively. Sorry I am a noob.
