Using Irish Moss in Red Ales? Also, I believe Whirlfloc is just processed Irish Moss. Think of it as pellet hops are to whole hops, Whirlfloc is to Irish Moss. |

Can I condition in growlers? Huh, thanks for the link--it didn't come up in my search for some reason. |

Secondary Fermenter Temperature — Colder? Thanks, here's what I ended up doing/am going to do. Fermented in primary for 8 days, transferred to secondary. Secondary will be in water with heat on for ~6 days then I'm going to add some dry hops and turn the heat off for a week. After that, I'll bottle and let age another ~3 weeks at room temp. |

Help! My secondary fermenter exploded! The first piece of advice I'd give is to not go by bubbles in the airlock to determine whether or not primary fermentation has finished, it's too prone to errors. My second piece of advice is to invest in a hydrometer and use a few days of stable SG readings to determine when primary fermentation has finished. |

What's wrong with using finings? Seconded on the pride issue. I think the truth is that commercial breweries can afford to employ fancy filtering equipment that produce the same results as finings without adding anything to the brew. |

Are the terms “dry”, “low FG” and “drinkable” synonymous? changed 'would' to 'could' in dryness |

Cure for foamy hydrometer? I might have to chop a few inches off my test jar, but I love the simplicity of this. |

Cure for foamy hydrometer? Hah, looking at your hydrometer I think mine is ~6 inches longer than it needs to be. I need ~4 or 5 hits from the beer thief before mine gets close to full. Maybe I'll cut a few inches off the top... |

Are the terms “dry”, “low FG” and “drinkable” synonymous? That's probably a good point, it's just my experience most "drinkable" beers tend to have a lower ABV. |

Secondary Fermenter Temperature — Colder? Thanks, I kinda assumed it wouldn't be so important, but I've mostly seen people asking about higher temperatures post-primary. |
