What should I put in my swamp cooler water to retard growth of nasty things? The mold is growing on the bucket itself, though, not on the towel. |

What's a good small-batch fermentation vessel? Is there more risk of contamination with a Mr. Beer fermenter? |

What's a good small-batch fermentation vessel? I like this idea a lot because you'll have pretzels to eat with the beer. |

What's a good small-batch fermentation vessel? That's actually just like a jug I already have. How much head space do you need to leave in it? |

What's a good first equipment buy after a basic starter kit? @Max I currently live in Florida, so this is probably an even more important investment for me. I miss my basement. :[ |

What's a good first equipment buy after a basic starter kit? I realized that the temperature granularity wouldn't be that useful for the brewing, but would help with getting more exact gravity readings. I ended up buying this one for $20: ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360395651395 |

What's a good first equipment buy after a basic starter kit? I was actually planning on doing this already, but it's still a good suggestion. |

What's a good first equipment buy after a basic starter kit? Well then, guess I just need to find the space to put it. |

Are there tools that can make the bottling process easier? Do you wash the bottles in the dishwasher too, or just use it as a place to dry them? Could running the dishwasher with sanitizer instead of powder detergent be an option? |

Racking question @Pulsehead: That's probably right: for a siphon to work, one container needs to be higher than the other. Probably on...a rack! |

What's a good first equipment buy after a basic starter kit? Also, I just realized that I'm not sure what step you'd use the fridge and thermostat for. To keep the beer at a consistent temperature while it ferments, I assume? |

What's a good first equipment buy after a basic starter kit? Wow, fancy. I was gonna get a $10 dial thermometer, but this looks nice. Is the .1 degree granularity really necessary, though? |

What's a good first equipment buy after a basic starter kit? I wasn't saying that I'd need to bust open my piggy bank to afford a $10 autosiphon. At the same time, I wouldn't want to waste $10 on something that wasn't worth the money, especially if I could put that $10 towards something that would be a bigger help. The question isn't so much about the price as it is the price-to-benefit ratio. |
