Engineer by degree, but I code for a living. Recently switched to using a tablet for leisure internet, like this site, but the on-screen keyboard is horrible, so please forgive my missing letters and things!

comment How do I legally sell my home brew in the UK?
Based on existing questions that have not been disallowed, I'd say this one should be allowed too. It's a question that would come-up for many new homebrewers that might simply be looking for a way to offset the equipment costs and when they realize what a hassle it would be, they quickly move on.

comment Does Dry Hopping create a white film with bubbles?
I would agree with Denny for the most part, but one may wish to question the provenance of the hops used; current year vacuum sealed pellets, fine, two year old flower hops in a ziplock from a buddies skanky freezer, eh, not so certain.

comment Safely adding enzymes (e.g. Beano) to lower final gravity
I would try WLP099 before going the enzyme route. I had a beer go from 1.110 to 1.042 on WLP-004. I tried CBC-1, which did nothing. I pitched WLP-099 and it went to 1.008 (13.5% ABV barley wine).

comment Economics behind homebrewing?
I did a similar calculation, so I hope this act was not too 'sad'. Curious people are the most awesome. Mine didn't get too detailed...just total expense after 2 years brewing on my own equipment (inexpensive all grain equipment plus ingredients, obviously no labor charges, hehe). I converted my total production volume into the number of 22 oz 'bomber bottles' that would have made. It came out to about 75% of what I would have paid at the store. I'm sure it's better than that now (more time to amortize the equipment and a 'free' bag of grain).

comment Permanent marking of volume in aluminium pot
Before you get too far, you need to decide if your etching will match cold volumes or hot volumes. If room temp to boiling temp is 4%, then by the time you put 9 gallons in there, you're looking at the difference between 9 and 9.36.
